A Remarkable Beach Wheelchair in Panama City, FL

Beaches and I have always had a love/hate relationship. On one hand I love them because I love soaking up sun rays, taking in the gorgeous views, and there’s definitely nothing better than sipping on some piña coladas while doing so. But on the other hand I don’t like beach destinations so much because of the usually dreaded beach wheelchair experience. If you have been in one before then I’m sure that you can understand exactly what I’m talking about. They have to be pushed around by someone else, allowing for zero independence, and most of them are extremely uncomfortable. However, I have breaking news for you: I have discovered the perfect beach wheelchair thanks to Beach Powered Mobility!

Beach Powered Mobility is new to Panama City Beach, Florida (one of my top 3 favorite beaches) and offers powered beach wheelchairs that can be driven with a joystick, just like what is on normal electric wheelchairs. In past visits to the beach, I have used other motorized chairs, but they were nowhere near as easy to drive. Actually, I couldn’t even drive them myself because it was so difficult for me. However, with this new Beach Cruiser I drove myself all over the beach and it was as if I was in my own regular wheelchair because it was so easy and comfortable.

The sand in Panama City can be a little rough because so many people are walking in it throughout the day. However, with the Beach Cruiser’s large tires you can enjoy a smooth ride up and down the beach. I did purchase a velcro strap to go across my chest however, just to be more careful. You can buy a velcro strap at Lowe’s or Home Depot for less than $10 if you feel like you might need it. It’s hard for me to hold myself up across uneven or rough surfaces so that’s why I decided to use it.

During my four days in Panama City Beach, I used the Beach Cruiser for a couple hours every day. For the first time ever, I was not worrying about comfort or how to get around the beach. This chair took all of the usual worries away and allowed me to enjoy the beach like everyone else. I am very thankful that Panama City Beach now has this and hopefully, many more destinations will get this chair soon.
